A left-handed middle-order batsman, Ben Rohrer was a late addition to the New South Wales side for their second-last Pura Cup match of 2006-07. Things started badly; he survived a hat-trick ball from Ben Hilfenhaus but made only 5 as Tasmania skittled the Blues for 53, their lowest Pura Cup score. But in the second innings Rohrer stood firm and his 163 made him the first man since Rodney Davison in 1993-94 to make a century on first-class debut for New South Wales. He faced the Tigers again in the final and scored 30 in the second innings - only Simon Katich made more - as New South Wales conceded the title to Tasmania. Rohrer's encouraging start earned him a Blues contract for 2007-08, but he was unable to gain any more playing time.
