Wet outfield ruins Wollongong match

New South Wales v South Australia match abandoned
Scorecard

New South Wales were denied the chance to end their winless streak, which now sits at 12 straight one-day games, when their clash with South Australia was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The match was to be a treat for Wollongong locals but heavy rain during the week left the ground too wet for any play to be possible.

Although the pitch area was not badly affected, the major concern was a sodden outfield that showed little sign of drying as the day progressed. The umpires waited more than three hours after the scheduled start time before the match was abandoned. The no-result leaves the Blues last on the FR Cup table while the Redbacks are fourth.
