Profile
Born in South Africa, Saleem brought experience and a strong work-ethic to Bermuda. A useful allrounder who, without ever truly dominating, nevertheless picked up key wickets and scored vital runs for his adopted country. He normally took the new ball and batted at No.3, although he batted slightly lower in the 2007 World Cup, where he finished the Bermuda's leading wicket-taker with five at 13.60. However, he was banned for one match after reportedly missing a social event and he announced his retirement on the team's return home. He was a steady fielder and his influence on the team was highly valued. Never short of a word, he criticised the Bermudan board who, he felt, lacked transparency, in a parting shot before returning to his native South Africa in 2008. Alan Curr May 2008
