Andy Pick will coach Canada in their Intercontinental Cup final against Ireland starting on May 22, even though his contract has officially expired. He left his role a few days early in order to make the time up with two matches this month.
Pick told Cricinfo that he had negotiated with the ECB to be in charge of the Canadians while they are in England and as it was unlikely that they would have found a new coach in time. Indeed, the coaching position remains wide open.
As a warm-up, Pick has arranged for Canada to play an England Select XI at Loughborough Town in a two-day match on May 17 and 18. They will need the practice, too, with most of their players out of action since their exit from the World Cup. Their last game was on March 22.
Pick will have his work cut out iat Loughborough - as well as coaching Canada, the England XI will be of his choosing. As he resumes his role as England juniors, he has asked to keep an eye on some players. At Loughborough, he will have 22 players to look out for.
