Sohail Tanvir took 7 for 34 as Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) were shot out for 66 while chasing 251 against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in Lahore.

After winning the toss, WAPDA decided to field and their opening bowlers struck thrice to leave KRL struggling at 48 for 3. Azhar Ali and Bazid Khan led the recovery during their 117-run stand for the fourth wicket. Azhar scored a run-a-ball 88 while Bazid supported him with 51. Ali Khan made a quickfire 30 off 18, but three run-outs meant KRL were bowled out for 250 in 46.5 overs. For WAPDA, Azharullah took 3 for 35 off his nine overs; his new-ball partner Sarfraz Ahmed took 2 for 30.

However, their efforts couldn't match that of Tanvir's, who scythed through the WAPDA top order, dismissing Nos 1-5. He took a wicket for each of his seven overs, and Yasir Arafat bagged 2 for 25 in his spell as WAPDA lasted only 13.1 overs. Only two of their batsmen reached double figures, and four fell for ducks.

At the Sheikhupura Stadium, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) completed a 26-run win over the Rawalpindi Rams in a high-scoring contest.

Nasir Jamshed smashed 128 off 115 balls, with 14 fours and four sixes, as NBP raked up 319 for 4 after being asked to bat. Salman Butt, Jamshed's opening partner, chipped in with 58.

Umar Amin and Babar Naeem both scored fifties as the Rams began their chase positively. However, none of the batsmen converted their starts into a big score as they were bowled out in 48.2 overs. Amin top scored with 60 while Naeem's 55 came off 39 balls. For NBP, spinners Qaiser Abbas and Irfanuddin picked three wickets apiece.

Pool B

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) made it two wins out of two in the Super Eights stage with a 16-run win over the Lahore Eagles in Karachi.

Sixties from opener Yasir Hameed and Tahir Khan, supported by 40s from Fahad Iqbal and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, helped PIA to 269 to 9 after they were put in by the Eagles. Junaid Zia and Kashif Siddiq picked up three wickets each.

Ashfaq Ahmed top scored with 54 during the Eagles' chase but none of the the other batsmen managed to go beyond 40. At 196 for 5, the Eagles looked on course, but Nauman Alvi dented their hopes with three wickets from his ten overs. The Eagles eventually were bowled out for 253, with four overs still left in their innings.

In another game in Karachi, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited sneaked a seven-run win over Habib Bank Limited (HBL).

Younis Khan's unbeaten run-a-ball 110, with four fours and a six, ended in disappointment as HBL failed to reach their target of 278. Barring Aftab Alam's patient 49, Younis didn't get much support from the rest of the batsmen, with the first three wickets falling for 58 runs. Wicketkeeper Farhan Iqbal was giving Younis company with 28 not out, but they couldn't overhaul SNGPL's total. Mohammad Hafeez and Asad Ali took two wickets apiece.

Hafeez's 69 at the top of the order, and Azhar Shafiq's 80 off 89 had guided SNGPL to 277. Left-arm spinners Mohammad Aslam and Abdur Rehman took three wickets each, but gave away more than five runs an over.
