Profile
The oldest man to appear in first-class cricket was also making his first-class debut, records almost certain never to be broken. Raja Maharaj Singh captained Bombay Governor's XI and Frank Worrell's Commonwealth XI at Bombay, making 4 batting at No.9. That was it. He didn't bowl, took no catches, was listed as "absent ill" in the second innings and, unsurprisingly, didn't play again. he was dismissed by Jim Laker in his only outing, a bowler who was 44 years his junior, almost certainly another first-class record.
