Profile
One of many South Africans who has followed the well-trodden path into county cricket. Carter is capable of destructive batting, and is often used at the top of the order in one-day cricket, while his left-arm seam adds variety to the Warwickshire attack. However, his performances have been inconsistent although he has formed a lengthy county career. Took five wickets in the 2005 C&G final, which Warwickshire lost, but will find it harder to maintain a first-team place with a crop of youngsters coming through. Andrew McGlashan September 2006
