Profile
A fast-medium bowler, Hugh Gore played for Leeward Islands for several seasons without setting the world on fire, and it was therefore surprising when he was recommended to Somerset by fellow Antiguan Viv Richards in 1980, all the more so as Gore had not played first-class cricket in the previous winter. Gore arrived at Taunton overweight and at little more than medium-pace. He battled with fitness issues and in 11 matches took 14 wickets at 47. He was not re-engaged and never played first-class cricket again.
