Glamorgan have signed New Zealand's wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum as a temporary replacement for Mark Cosgrove, who is on duty with Australia A.
McCullum, who has represented New Zealand in 23 Tests and 84 one-dayers, arrives on June 23 for a five-week stint with the county and will be available for the entire Twenty20 Cup which is just weeks away. In six Twenty20 games, McCullum has the impressive strike-rate of 179.
"We are delighted to have signed a player of Brendon's quality and we think he will be especially suited to the Twenty20 format," said John Derrick, Glamorgan's director of cricket.
"Our other overseas player James Franklin had a big part to play in recruiting Brendon and he is sure he will make a big impact especially in Twenty20.
"We have three championship matches while Mark is away and Brendon will be a real asset for us in those too."
Despite McCullum's role behind the stumps for New Zealand, Glamorgan confirmed that their regular wicketkeeper, Mark Wallace, will continue to keep wicket for the county, leaving McCullum to play as a specialist batsman.
