Gary Pratt, the Durham batsman who sprang to fame by running out Ricky Ponting at Trent Bridge last summer, is one of four players who won't be offered a new contract by Durham. Graeme Bridge, Jon Lewis and James Lowe have also been told their services won't be required next season.
Despite Pratt's exploits as a substitute fielder for England, he has failed to hold down a regular spot in the Durham first team as young batsmen such as Ben Harmison force their way ahead of him.
Bridge, a left-arm spinner, made his debut in 1999 and played for England Under-19 between 1998 and 2000 while Jon Lewis captained Durham between 2000 and 2004 after joined from Essex in 1997.
Martyn Moxon, the head coach said: "I'd like to thank all four players for their dedication and service to Durham and I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of them the very best of luck in their future careers."
"We will be announcing new signings in due course and I'm confident that the additions we make will continue to strengthen the team and hopefully push us towards challenging for honours in 2007."
