Sri Lanka Under-19s 312 for 7 (Chandimal 112*, M Perera 55, Pathirana 55) beat England Under-19s 154 (Northeast 32, Pathirana 3-42, Kavikara 3-28) by 158 runs
Scorecard
Sri Lanka Under-19s beat their England counterparts by the massive margin of 158 runs on Monday with Sachith Pathirana producing a fine allround display.
Dinesh Chandimal lost his opening partner, Dilshan Munaweera, as well as the No.3, Lahiru Thirimanne, before he took command with a fine 112. He found good support from Kushal Perera and the pair added 132 for the fourth wicket. However, it was Pathirana who took the game away from England with a ferocious 55 from just 30 balls, cracking eight fours and two sixes, before he was bowled by Alex Wakely.
James Harris, the highly regarded seamer from Glamorgan, finished with the respectable figures of 3 for 66, albeit from nine rather expensive overs, and England were set a mountainous 313 to win.
Their chase began poorly and never recovered. Wakely was bowled for a duck; the in-form Ben Brown fell for 12 and James Taylor became Pathirana's first victim when he was stumped. Sam Northeast threatened a recovery with a brisk 30, but England's tailend struggled against Sri Lanka's spinners and were dismissed in 35 overs for a paltry 154.
