12.6 to KC Sangakkara, Zak breaks through. Dravid takes a neat low catch at first slip. Done in by the leg cutter. It moved in, landed on a length around middle and cut away towards off. Sangakkara tried to push his bat down the line and got a thick edge and it flew low and to the front of Rahul who got his palm under the ball to take a sharp catch.. 57/2
129.2 to TT Samaraweera, caught at gully. Short of length and outside the off stump, Samaraweera tried to guide it to third man but flashed it straight to Laxman who held on. Samaraweera doesn't usually cut hard; he tries to guide it in the gaps but this time failed to beat the man. Good innings, though. He did make batting look pretty easy out there. And for Laxman it was his 99th Test catch. 454/5

3.6 to MG Vandort, And the first wicket is down. Ishant dug it short of length and it kicked up outside off even as it moved away from Vandort who chased it, bat away from the body. Edge and gone. Kartik did well to move to his left to grab it. . Movement and bounce. Enter Sanga. 7/1
102.2 to DPMD Jayawardene, done in by a peach of a delivery that left him late. And Karthik has taken a catch! And he has a laugh about it. It came in the air, landed on a length around middle and off and shaped away late, Mahela did what he had to do; put his bat out to defend but it curved away and took a bit of outside edge. Superb innings, though. Yet another big century on his favorite piece of turf.. 360/4

60.5 to SM Warnapura, Gone this time! Done in by the flight, turn and the bounce. It drifted in from round the stumps, landed around off and turned away. Warnapura stabbed it to Dravid at slip. He didn't quite get his front foot well forward, just a half-step and that did him in. 212/3
151.6 to HAPW Jayawardene, The itch to sweep does him in. He tried unsuccessfully a couple of times before and this time top edges to Ishant, running in from long leg.. 545/6

5.1 to V Sehwag, And a bouncer is the answer! Viru, in his merry mood, goes to hook the head-high bouncer outside off, and fails to control it... the top-edge goes to Warnapura at deep squareleg. Sri Lanka are jubilant with the wicket, it was a good set-up. 36/1
27.557242.581329000
18.1 to R Dravid, What a beauty from Mendis! His first Test wicket. Rahul Dravid is beaten all hands up. The flicker, the carrom ball does the trick. It landed on the middle stump, a unsure Dravid was on the back foot and it cut away quickly towards the off stump, past the poke and crashed into the top of the off stump. Dravid is stunned, looks back to confirm what his ears told him. The death rattle. The middle-finger assassin is on the prowl at SSC.. 79/3
48.5 to A Kumble, Review it landed on a length, on the middle and skidded on almost straight, slight turn away, and hit Kumble on the front foot. He had pressed the front leg too much across. The ball hit the pad and then bounded off to silly point. Was it lbw or was it for pad bat catch? I am not sure about the latter but it looked pretty straight forward for a lbw decision. But the question is if the umpire had given it out pad and bat catch, can the third umpire say forget that, that was not out but he was lbw. Any way he has been given out. Lbw or catch, we are not still sure.Hold on. Let's rewind: Kumble was given out. He didn't know for what. He went and asked the umpire and then Kumble decided to ask for the review. Replays confirmed the lbw decision, were unclear about pad and bat catch. Now what I don't know was whether the umpire had given him out caught initialy and then after review changed it to lbw. Any way, the correct decision has been made. OUT LBW. 170/7
54.5 to Z Khan, The skidder does him in. It landed on a length on the middle and leg and hurried on towards leg stump. Zaheer went right back but was beaten by the skidder and the pace off the wicket. Trapped in front. Easy decision.. 188/9
72.5 to VVS Laxman, Wah! done in by the two-fingered googly! It looped up outside off stump, Laxman stretched forward to defend, the bat came down outside the line as the ball spun in to thread the bat and pad gap to disturb the furniture. Super stuff from Mendis. And well played Laxman and Ishant. Good fighting partnership.. 223/10
2948452.8913111000
17.3 to G Gambhir, lovely strike from Murali. It was slower than the previous deliveries, landed on the leg and middle, sucking Gambhir into a drive through the on side and he got a leading edge to short cover. Murali is delighted. His 150th wicket at SSC. What a bowler!. 79/2
31.5 to SR Tendulkar, Done in by the doosra from round the stumps! The relentless pressure by the two spinning men does the trick. It landed on leg and middle and turned across Tendulkar who decides late to let it go but is too late to withdraw the bat. The ball runs off the inner edge and on to the stumps. Beautiful delivery. Master at work.. 123/4
37.6 to SC Ganguly, Forget Mendis, try getting past the old Murali first! From over the stumps, he ripped a loopy topspinner around the leg stump line, Ganguly went for the sweep but got a top edge and Kulasekera came running in to take a sharp and very good catch inches off the turf at deepish square leg as the ball dipped rapidly on him.. 138/5
41.6 to KD Karthik, Murali takes out DK. The doosra on the middle and leg line, Karthik went for the slog sweep and top edged it towards wide extra cover. Murali dashed after it to take a good running catch. The shot selection will be questioned, if not by the captain walking past him and his team-mates, by the media.. 147/6
51.2 to Harbhajan Singh, Harbhajan walks and that's Murali's 64th five-for! What a champion.. It turned in from outside off stump, Harbhajan, perhaps, thought it was the doosra, was not coming forward till the ball started to turn in. He then tried to lunge out, landed his front leg on the heel, the ball had turned in by then, collided with the inside edge and popped to short-leg. Gone!. 181/8

14.2 to VVS Laxman, trapped in front. Mendis has done in Laxman. Again. Twice within a short duration of time. It landed on a length around the middle and skidded towards leg. Laxman was unsure, had a stab at it but the ball beat the blade and rushed on quickly to hit the back pad. Dead plumb! Enter SRT.. 53/2
34.2 to R Dravid, Another review for a bat--pad catch! The two-fingered googly is the answer. What a bundle of mystery. Indians better call Hercule Poirot to solve it. It turned in from the middle stump line, Dravid was sucked forward to defend but the ball broke back in to take the inside edge before popping up off the pad to short leg.. The umpire had turned it down and Mahela was quick to do the T symbol, the time-out signal. What a session for Sri Lanka. Magical. Indians were clueless out there.. 103/6
44.3 to Z Khan, Oh boy! what a wicket orgy. Googly. Hurried nervous waft of the bat. Thin air. Timber! It broke back in from the middle stump line, Zaheer Khan tried to jab it to the off side but missed it completely and the ball hit the top of the leg stump.. 133/9
44.6 to Harbhajan Singh, Marvellous stuff. It's all over! Great thumping win for Sri Lanka. The goggle-eyed master and the middle-fingered assasin have done the job for Sri Lanka. Harbhajan was cleaned up by the googly. He had gone for the big slog across the line, no wood on leather, though. Great scenes here at SSC. This is India's third-heaviest innings defeat in Tests.. 138/10

6.4 to V Sehwag, Mahela asks for the Review for the lbw. The ball pitched on the leg stump line - - half outside leg and half inside- and straightened and Sehwag shouldered arms. The ball clipped the inner half of the front pad - which was placed around the leg stump line - and then went on to hit the back pad in front of the stumps. It's a slightly tough one. It hit the front pad first and then deflected. After the chat with the third umpire, Benson has given it out. Joy for Sri Lanka. What a blow from Murali.Let's rewind: I will have a look at the replays - they have gone for ad breaks - to see whether it was the topspinner or doosra - in which case he would be out - or was it the off break in which case considering it hit the front pad first, you can say it would have turned to miss the leg stump. Boycott, on air, reckons it should not have been given out.Replays are in now. The ball did straighten. It was not the pure topspinner that would have gone on with the angle. It did straighten a bit. The virtual eye showed the path as if it hit the back pad first. The virtual eye showed it hitting the middle as if the deflection didn't happen. What happened was that it hit the front pad first. Having said that it was not hitting the middle, I would have to say that it might have grazed the leg stump. Any way that is that. A you tube moment. And the debate will continue.. 25/1
23.4 to SR Tendulkar, Review. Flat doosra down the leg side, Tendulkar goes for the paddle sweep and the ball pops up on the leg side, leg slip dives across and takes it cleanly. Doctrove is not impressed and Jayawardene calls for the review. Replays confirms that the ball took the shoulder of the bat after clipping the pad.. 82/3
29.5 to G Gambhir, Murali does him in again. Lovely flighted delivery around the off stump and Gambhir stepped down the track for the big extra-cover drive but was beaten in the flight and by the turn. Stumped. Superb delivery. He didn't charge out, just stepped out for the big drive but dragged the back foot way outside the crease.. 95/4
33.5 to SC Ganguly, Murali is on the verge of his 65th five-for and the 21st ten-for. Wicket no 4 for him. The quickish off break takes care of Ganguly. It spun across from the leg stump line and Ganguly followed it and it flew of the face of the bat to left of second slip where Dilshan took a sharp diving catch. Wonderful bowling and very good bit of fielding.. 103/5
35.5 to KD Karthik, 65th five-for. 21st ten-for and the fourth ten-wicket haul on this ground! What a legend. It was the doosra from round the stumps, Karthik was caught at the crease, tried to go back at the last minute and stabbed it off the outer half to Mahela at first slip. Good sharp catch to his left. And it's the 67th time Murali and Mahela combo have been involved in a dismissal!. 103/7
41.3 to A Kumble, The end is nigh! The quickish off break lands on the off and middle line, from round the stumps, Kumble backs away to cut - not the length for it- and edges it on to the stumps. Timber!. 120/8
