First Division

No play was possible on the first day of Sussex's clash with Surrey at Hove.

Second Division

2nd day

Only 35.3 overs were possible on the second day between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan at Bristol. It was at least an improvement on the 24.3 overs that they fitted in on Tuesday, and David Hemp picked up where he left off by converting his overnight 23 to a hard-earned 87 from 151 balls, with 17 fours. He was eventually dismissed shortly before the close, as Glamorgan reached 208 for 6. Jon Lewis was once again the pick of the seamers with 3 for 37 from 21 overs.

A mere 21.4 overs were possible at Edgbaston, in which time Warwickshire's Jonathan Trott and Tim Ambrose extended their sixth-wicket stand to 95 against Leicestershire. After waiting until late in the day for a break in the clouds, Trott moved along from 24 to 56 not out, his second half-century of the season, while Ambrose reached the close on 46 not out, his highest score since his maiden Test century at Wellington last month.

1st day

Northamptonshire's Alex Wakely survived just four balls before swishing rashly at Kabir Ali to be caught behind for a duck, but that was as exciting as things got against Worcestershire at Northampton, where a five-hour delay restricted play to 10.2 overs. Stephen Peters and Robert White made light of the early wicket to reach 33 for 1, before bad light brought a merciful end to the day.

No play was possible in either of the university matches between Durham UCCE and Lancashire at Chester-le-Street, and Middlesex and Cardiff UCCE at Richmond.
