Sussex have officially begun their search for a new chief executive to replace Gus MacKay who has joined Surrey as their managing director. Chris Adams, who ended his 11-year stint as captain at the end of the season, has said he will apply for the position.
"I have no offers for any job at the moment," Adams told The Argus. "At the moment my only option is to carry on playing, there is nothing at this time which will stop me from doing that. But I know that in cricket things can change quickly. I will be applying for the chief executive's job here and other things might happen, we'll just have to wait and see."
The club hope to have the new person in place by January 1 and Jim May, the Sussex chairman, said: "This new appointment is a pivotal one, as we seek to continue the success of cricket at Sussex.
"Sussex have enjoyed unprecedented playing success over the last five years and our intention is to continue to progress based on a core of home grown English qualified players.
"The new chief executive has a major challenge and a major opportunity to drive the commercial side of the business and to redevelop the County Ground. This is aimed at underpinning cricket in a sustainable fashion."
