Heavy rain at Hove washed out the third and final match of this series, handing victory to England, who won the only one in which any play was possible, at Hove yesterday. The first match, atA rundel on August 24, was also rained off.

It completed a damp tour for the young Bangladesh side - the third Test at Cardiff was also badly affected by rain, after England had won the first two matches.

England's Under-19 side took a 1-0 lead in this three-match series (the first match was rained off), with a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh at Hove.

Shahriar Nafees won the toss for Bangladesh and batted, but apart from Shamshur Rahman, who made a sedate 75, no-one stayed for long. Kent's Simon Cusden took two early wickets, Samit Patel of Notts also picked up a couple, and Lancashire's Tom Smith mopped up to finish with 3 for 27.

Alastair Cook, England's captain, fell to Rubaiyat Huq for 12 (14 for 1), but a stand of 95 between Joe Denly and Cook's Essex team-mate Ravi Bopara put England in charge. Bopara was finally stumped for 40, but that brought in Somerset's James Hildreth, and he hurried to 53 not out in only 42 balls as England cruised home with more than ten overs to spare. Denly, from Kent, finished with 62 not out.
