Rain forces Pakistan's warm-up to be abandoned

Rain, which affected every game during the Videocon Cup last week, was again the culprit as Pakistan's match against the Netherlands in Amstelveen had to be abandoned. Pakistan were in some discomfort at 122 for 6 in match reduced to 25 overs per side when rain caused the game to be halted.

Pakistan slumped to 78 for 6 before Abdul Razzaq (24 not out) and Moin Khan (20 not out) got together to thwart the Dutch bowlers. The start had been delayed by three hours, but once play did start, Imran Farhat departed early, caught behind by Jeroen Smits off the bowling of Darron Reekers, who had represented Canterbury in New Zealand.

Reekers also had Shahid Afridi caught in the covers by Bas Zuiderant, and Tim de Leede - the Netherlands' best bowler at last year's World Cup - then chipped in with two wickets in two balls.

Inzamam-ul-Haq hit one straight to Dan van Bunge, and Younis Khan played on after going for a defensive prod. But any likelihood of a result was eliminated by Razzaq's clean hitting, and the rain that arrived shortly after.

Matches against the Netherlands aren't counted as full internationals unless they're played in an ICC-run tournament. Pakistan, their preparations ruined by the weather, now proceed to England where Australia await in another warm-up game to be played on Saturday.
