Profile
Steve Stubbings moved to Derbyshire in the summer of 1997, and he
sored his maiden first classm hundred for Derbyshire against Kent in 2000. He was awarded his county cap in 2001 and was voted the county's player-of-the-season that year. He was one of few Derbyshire players to emerge with an enhanced reputation in a 2005 season that saw them finish bottom of the County Championship - he improved on his previous year's performances, scoring two centuries and topping 1000 runs. Despite being born in England, Stubbings was raised and educated in Australia both at school level and university, before returning to play for Derbyshire. He signed a new one-year contract for the 2006 season, and again was a crucial part of the set-up scoring over 1000 first-class runs for the county. He was awarded a benefit by the club for 2008.
