Love to lead Bulls

Queensland Cricket

January 10, 2003

Queensland's latest Test player Martin Love will captain the XXXX Queensland Bulls in Sunday's one-day match against Australian Country in Bundaberg.

Love, who made his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test and played in the Fifth Test in Sydney last week, will take over the captaincy reins from pace bowler Michael Kasprowicz.

Kasprowicz led the Bulls to ING and Pura Cup victories in Perth this week.

The Queensland selectors have also included swing bowler Adam Dale in the Bulls line-up in place of left-armer Scott Brant who sustained a minor calf strain playing for the Queensland Academy of Sport in their ACB Cup outright win over the ACT yesterday.

Dale made a successful comeback in the Bulls' outright win over the Warriors in Perth after a 15-month absence following major shoulder surgery.

The Bulls will travel to Bundaberg tomorrow and play the one-day fixture on Sunday against the Australian Country team that will be named tonight. The match is part of the Australian Country championships in Bundaberg this week and next week.

Meanwhile injured pace bowler Ashley Noffke has had a positive report on his fractured right index finger.

Following scans today, Noffke will not require surgery to have a surgical pin inserted, with the Australia 'A' quick hoping to be cleared to resume bowling in just over a week.

"We'll see how things go next week at training before we know whether the games against the Redbacks are an option for me," Noffke said.

The Bulls play South Australia in an ING Cup day/nighter on Friday and then in a Pura Cup match starting on Sunday at the Gabba.

XXXX Queensland Bulls v Australian Country, Bundaberg, Sunday: Martin Love (c), Daniel Payne, Lee Carseldine, Clinton Perren, Brendan Nash, James Hopes, Nick Kruger, Wade Seccombe, Michael Kasprowicz, Nathan Hauritz, Damien MacKenzie, Adam Dale (all twelve to play).
