The question mark over Sourav Ganguly's participation in Challenger Trophy is likely to be resolved on Friday when John Gloster, the Indian team's physiotherapist, and Anant Joshi, the chief of the board's medical panel, will examine his elbow during a fitness test to be held in Mumbai.
Ganguly has been named to lead the India Seniors side in the four-day tournament beginning in Mohali on Monday. However there has been uncertainity over his participation owing to an injury to his right elbow that he picked up during a practice game in Zimbabwe last month.
The Kolkata based, Telegraph newspaper reported that Ganguly underwent training under Chinmoy Roy, senior Bengal fitness trainer, at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the BCCI has decided that Rahul Dravid will attend the ICC Test Captains' Conclave in Sydney next week, irrespective of whether Sourav plays in the Challenger Trophy or not. A Board official has been quoted as saying, "Since Dravid is already in Australia, it makes no sense to ask Sourav to go for the captains' meet. Dravid has been assigned that duty"
