Ganguly gives up Bengal captaincy

With a recall to the national team in the offing, Sourav Ganguly has prepared for a possible tour of South Africa by giving up the captaincy of the Bengal Ranji Trophy side. The national selectors meet in New Delhi tomorrow to pick the side for the three-Test series.

Ganguly handed over the captaincy to Deep Dasgupta, whom he had replaced at the start of the season. He had led Bengal in their only Ranji match so far this season, beating Punjab at Mohali in a low-scoring game.
