Netherlands v West Indies, 2nd women's Twenty20, Deventer

King proves queen as West Indies' reign continues

Cricinfo staff

July 6, 2008

West Indies 127 for 8 (King 79*) beat Netherlands 69 for 9 (Seetahal 3-12) by 59 runs
Scorecard

West Indies continued their unstoppable form against Netherlands to win by 58 runs despite a continual procession of wickets after choosing to bat in Deventer. Stacy-Ann King proved the difference, her unbeaten 79 rescuing them much as Juliana Nero's fifty had in their last match, the 2nd ODI on Friday, and in the end they posted 127 for 8.

King flayed her 79 from 57 balls, with seven fours and a six, as she offered much entertainment. She received some support from Deandra Dottin (16) - their partnership of 26 the largest of the match.

Helmian Rambaldo (17) and Caroline Solomons (16) were the sole batsmen to reach double figures as Netherlands' reply fell away. They eventually crawled to 69 for 9, to record a heavy loss.

Seventeen-year-old debutante Gaitri Seetahal returned West Indies' best figures of 3 for 12 and she was backed up by fellow first-timer Charlene Taitt who helped herself to 2 for 7 from three. The other four bowlers each had a wicket for their troubles.

Netherlands have two further chances to get a win under their belts. The ODI series resumes on Monday and concludes on Wednesday with West Indies already 2-0 up. West Indies then head to England for a series which opens with back-to-back ODIs on Friday and Saturday at Loughborough.
