Falkland Islands Cricket Team

The Falkland Islands were elected to the ICC as an Affiliate member in June 2007 - the decision was not unanimous as Argentina abstained from the vote. The island has one pitch, an artificial one on the military base, and it is believed to the second-most southerly in the world behind Punta Arenas in Chile. In 2002 the island had 40 senior and 30 junior members. The South Seas Ashes, played between the Falkland Governor's XI and the Commander of the British Forces Falkland Islands XI, have taken place every year since 1991.
