 Profile

An umpire of great promise Athula Senanayake is waiting on the wings for international recognition having started his umpiring career in 1996 and being promoted to the Premier panel in 2001. So far his umpiring abilities have been limited to officiating matches against touring sides, 'A' teams and under 19 sides. His last assignment was officiating the 3-day match between England and Sri Lanka 'A' at the NCC in 2008. Senanayake was a left-arm leg-spinner who played three years for Isipathana MV from 1971 before joining the Sri Lanka Army in 1976 and playing for them in the Sara trophy for six years. He is currently employed at the National Savings Bank as an executive officer.
