Andre Nel sent home on a drunken driving charge

The UCBSA has decided to withdraw Andre Nel from the South Africa A tour in Australia. The decision follows Nel's arrest early on the 11th by police in Hobart, Tasmania, on a charge of drunken driving. The Hobart police released Nel into the custody of SA A team management as an alternative to proceeding with prosecution.

Nel will return to South Africa as soon as possible and the matter has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the UCBSA for their deliberation. Should the Disciplinary Committee decide to hold a hearing into the matter, this will be done as soon as possible and the media will be advised accordingly.

Neither Andre Nel nor the UCBSA will discuss this matter with the media pending a meeting to be scheduled between Nel and the UCBSA on his return to South Africa.

Team management has not requested a replacement player.
