SAA Provincial Cup Tsotsobe prompts Border collapse January 22, 2006 Eastern Province turned the tables on Border at East London with a convincing 9-wicket win in their SAA Provincial Cup fixture. Deciding to bat first Border came up against an in-form Lonwabo Tsotsobe who took 5 for 28 as Border collapsed to 106 all out in 28.4 overs. Eastern Province wasted no time in knocking off the runs required with Colin Ingram unbeaten on 73. Northerns took the double over North West in Potchefstroom in a close finish as North West fell short by nine runs. Northerns made a disastrous start losing four wickets for only 32 before Neeten Chouhan, a Zimbabwean making his debut in South Africa, steadied the ship with 39. Kruger van Wyk (90*) and Pierre Joubert (58*) put on 126 for the seventh wicket as Northerns finished on 223 for 6. North West made a valiant effort but too many wickets were lost when batsmen looked to be set. In the end an innings of 74 from Richard Stroh was simply not enough for North West to pull through as they ended on 214 for 9. Rain in Kimberley reduced the match between Griqualand West and Easterns to a 22-over affair in which Easterns recorded an easy 5 wicket win, after Duckworth-Lewis had adjusted the required total. Batting first, Griquas scored a creditable 172 in 20.2 overs. Sean O'Connor, with career best figures of 4 for 36, and David Wiese, with 3 for 47, were instrumental in restricting Griquas.
