BCB XI 263 for 5 (Siddique 103, Aftab 45) trail South Africans 397 (Boucher 107*, Amla 103, Reza 3-73, Haque 3-93) by 134 runs

Mark Boucher took his overnight score of 64 to beyond a hundred, but from then on it was hard work for the visitors as the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI made a strong reply, led by Junaid Siddique's century.

South Africa, resuming on 329 for 8, added 68 runs as they played out 21.3 overs on the second day. Boucher was unbeaten on 107, while Dale Steyn made 32 and Makhaya Ntini chipped in with 11. Farhad Reza and Enamul Haque jnr finished with three wickets apiece.

Steyn, though, didn't make any impact with the ball, going wicketless in his 13 overs as the BCB XI racked up 263 for 5 before close. Openers Siddique and Shahriar Nafees put on a 58-run stand, before Ntini broke the partnership. Nafees was caught behind by Boucher after scoring a brisk 31.

Rajin Saleh fell cheaply to Morne Morkel, but the next two partnerships Siddique was involved in put the hosts in a comfortable position. Siddique put on 76 with Nazimuddin, who hung around for 78 minutes for his 22, and followed that up with a 85-run stand with Aftab Ahmed.

Ntini caught Siddique off his own bowling to end his innings on 103, which came off 168 balls with 15 fours. Siddique had made a fifty on his Test debut for Bangladesh during the tour to New Zealand. Aftab, renowned for his short-lived pyrotechnics in the shorter form of the game, departed soon after for a quick 45. Shakib Al Hasan and Raqibul Hasan were at the crease till stumps as BCB XI maintained a run-rate above four.

Morkel and Ntini prised out two wickets each, but both also leaked more than four an over. Offspinner Johan Botha had a solitary scalp, but most worrying for South Africa would be the off-day in the field for Steyn, the team's strike bowler in recent times. The visitors would look to bag the remaining wickets and get some more batting practice on the final day ahead of the two-Test series which starts on February 22.
