Roger Dill became the first umpire from the ICC Associates/Affiliates panel to stand in a full ODI when he officiated in tri-nation series between Bermuda, Canada and Zimbabwe in Trinidad in May 2006. He only took up umpiring in 1997 after stepping in when a local match needed someone. "I was told afterwards I didn't do too badly so I went found it fun and interesting and it went from there," he recalled. He subsequently stood in ICC Trophy, Intercontinental Cup and U-19 World Cup matches before being appointed to the Associates/Affiliates panel in April 2005. He is a sergeant in the Bermuda fire brigade.
