Kenya v Netherlands, Nairobi

Otieno dropped as Kenya make changes

Martin Williamson

March 28, 2006

Kenya have made several changes to their squad for the Intercontinental Cup match against Holland starting in Nairobi on Wednesday.

Long-term wicketkeeper/batsman Kennedy Otieno has been dropped after poor performances in Bangladesh, and Maurice Ouma, who started that series as third-choice keeper, will take the gloves. Martin Suji, Jimmy Kamande and David Obuya have also been left out after a disappointing one-day tour in which Kenya were beaten 4-0.

Brijal Patel has been brought back into the squad - he toured Zimbabwe in February with some success and his slow left-arm bowling gives an extra option - and Ashish Karia is called up for the first time. Allrounder Collins Obuya retains his place as a batsman, but his bowling is still not believed to be up to this level of cricket.

Kenya Steve Tikolo (capt), Thomas Odoyo, Maurice Ouma (wk), Brijal Patel, Hitesh Modi, Tony Suji, Tanmay Mishra, Collins Oboya, Ashish Karia, Peter Ongondo, Rajesh Bhudia, Kalpesh Patel, Alfred Luseno.
