Guyana advanced to the finals of the Stanford 20/20 tournament with a six-wicket win over Grenada at St.Johns. Mahendra Nagamootoo, the legspiner, starred with a five-wicket haul to restrict Grenada to 158 for 8, while Lennox Cush, the opener, helped Guyana polish the target off with relative ease, picking up the Player-of-the-Match award.

After Grenada lost the toss, openers Andre Fletcher and Clevroy Antoine began well, adding 86. Fletcher was the more aggressive of the two, managing five fours and two sixes in his 50. However, both openers fell in quick succession to Narsingh Deonarine, bowling his offbreaks, and the middle order failed to capitalise on the start. Rawl Lewis, the Grenada captain, scored 36 but lacked support from the rest, as Nagamootoo ran through the middle and lower order to finish with figures of 5 for 15.

Travis Dowlin and Cush, the Guyana openers, began confidently, adding 57, before Dennis George accounted for Dowlin. Cush carried on but was bowled by George - the most effective bowler for Grenada - just one run short of his fifty. Guyana were still comfortably placed when the third wicket fell at 90, and Deonarine and Imran Khan eased to the target with ten balls to spare.

Guyana will meet the winner of the second semi-final between Trinidad and Nevis, to be played on Friday.
