Hondo returns after injury lay-off

Douglas Hondo: back in action © AFP
Zimbabwe pace bowler Douglas Hondo returned to action in club cricket this week after a long lay off due to a back stress-fracture injury, which has kept him out of the national team for over a year.

Hondo bowled and batted for Alexandra, his new club, on Sunday in a losing cause against Old Hararians, a club which Zimbabwe World Cup hopeful Mark Vermeulen, recently banned in the UK, plays for. Both Hondo and Vermeulen scored half centuries in the match.

While Hondo may not have regained full fitness, local media reports have linked him to a coaching job within the structures of Zimbabwe Cricket.
