Uganda v Kenyan XI, Kampala

Uganda impress despite Kenya defeats

Cricinfo staff

November 15, 2007

A Kenyan XI beat Uganda in two warm-up matches at Kampala's Lugogo Oval. The games were arranged to give the Ugandans practice before next week's World Cricket League Division Two competition in Namibia.

In the first match, Uganda went down by eight runs after they managed 168 chasing a target of 177. Alex Obanda, who has made such a strong impression in 2007, led the way for the Kenayns with 71 and Thomas Odoyo (4 for 20) did the damage with the ball.

The next day's game was not as close. David Oboya hit exactly 100 and Obanda 65 as the Kenyans scored 247 for 7 in their 50 overs. In reply, Uganda were always behind the clock and finished on 174 for 9.

Against a strong side from the leading Associate, this was another heartening performance by the rapidly-improving Ugandans who last month humbled Bermuda in an ODI. The good crowds which watched both games was also encouraging.
