At Lahore, June 25, 2008 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by 131 runs. Sri Lanka 2 pts. Toss: Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka exploded out of the blocks, with Jayasuriya sprinting to 72 from 47 balls, including ten fours and three sixes, in an opening partnership of 116 that occupied only 14.5 overs. Sangakkara carried on to his eighth one-day hundred, facing only 91 balls and hitting 16 fours, five of them in one Dolar Mahmud over (the other legal ball resulted in a return chance, which the disconsolate bowler dropped). Kapugedera ensured that the momentum was continued, and the eventual total always looked beyond Bangladesh, who struggled in the middle overs against the assorted mysteries of Muralitharan and Mendis.
Man of the Match: K. C. Sangakkara.
