Cricket's youngest Test-playing nation Bangladesh will visit South Africa in October for a short two-week tour.
The Bangladeshis will play a first-class match against Griquas and three one-day games against South Africa. They will fly to South Africa after the ICC knockout tournament in Nairobi.
According to United Cricket Board managing director Ali Bacher, the UCB invited Bangladesh to South Africa in order to assist Test cricket's most recent addition with their progress in international cricket. This is part of the UCB's commitment to helping the Bangladesh Cricket Board with the development of the game in their country.
In addition to the tour by the national team, the UCB has agreed to send the Director of Playing Affairs and Umpiring, Brian Basson, to Bangladesh for a week to conduct courses for Bangladeshi umpires. Two South African development officers will also spend a week in Bangladesh to provide background on the South African development programme in order to help stimulate the growth of the game in Bangladesh.
The president of the BCB, Saber Chowdhury, said: "We have already set in motion an exciting Development Programme and the UCB's timely assistance will be of much value to us."
