Cricket Australia today advised that middle-order batsman Darren Lehmann has been given the all-clear to resume cricket in early January, following an injury to his left Achilles tendon.
Lehmann, who has been undertaking rehabilitation since suffering the injury in early October, received the news after consultation with foot and ankle specialist, Dr Martin Sullivan.
Darren Lehmann said: "It's been a frustrating time, the last couple of months, so it's naturally a relief to learn that I'll be playing again in the new year.
"My aim now is to gear my preparation towards the Redbacks' ING Cup match against Tasmania on 9 January.
"It's been two months since I last played, so to know that I am close again is great news," he said.
Lehmann is currently managing the West End Redbacks in Brisbane ahead of their Pura Cup match against the XXXX Queensland Bulls beginning at the 'Gabba on Friday 19 December.
