Ian Chappell has been signed by ESPN-Star Sports as an exclusive presenter and commentator for its cricket-related programming in India.
Chappell will become part of a 'A Few Good Men', a panel that includes former players Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Wasim Akram.
"The passion for the game and the level of understanding that Indian fans have about the finer nuances of cricket has always amazed me," Chappell said in a press conference announcing his signing. "An added plus is the presence of such great stalwarts and close friends of mine in this star-studded team of experts.
"Given the fact that every fan expects the very best from us, there is always a lot of pressure on commentators and experts alike to provide in-depth analysis on every aspect of the game. I am looking forward to this challenging assignment."
Chappell is considered by many as one of the best Australian captains, with the team not losing a series under his leadership. Having made his Test debut in 1964 against Pakistan, Chappell went on to play 75 matches over a span of 15 years, scoring 5345 runs at an average of 42.42. He also played 16 ODIs, with a tally of 673 runs at an average of 48.07.
Chappell hails from a cricketing family, with his grandfather Vic Richardson and his two brothers - Greg and Trevor - having worn the baggy green.
