Gloucestershire have signed two new players on a 12-week trial basis. David Brown is an allrounder who impressed in the second team last season and Grant Hodnett has already played in the first team after being picked up from the local leagues, playing for Cheltenham CC. Both will be with the squad for the first three months of the season.
Stuart Barnes, the club's Academy Director, said of Brown: "He made some useful contributions to a good season at that level and this extended period of time in the early season will allow us to really see what he's capable of."
Hodnett, the right-hander who was born in Johannesburg, made his first-class debut against Warwickshire last season, and just missed out on a fifty; he made 49 and 10 in his two innings. "Grant deserves this opportunity to spend an extended period of time working with the full time squad," said Barnes. "In the matches he has played with us so far he has shown good potential."
