Hong Kong secure qualification for Asian Games 2014 and clinch semi-final berth at ACC Women's Championships

Hong Kong's top-four finish at the ACC Women's Championships 2013 qualifies them for the Asian Games 2014 in South Korea.

The Hong Kong's Women's cricket team has secured a semi-final berth at the ACC Women's Championships in Chiang Mai following a third successive victory at the tournament. Hong Kong's top-four finish in the tournament also qualifies them for the Asian Games 2014 to be held at Incheon, South Korea.
Hong Kong's victory over Bhutan came after a stunning fightback that saw them recover from a precarious 6-18 to post a total of 8-105 from their 25 overs. Chan Ka Man led the fightback for Hong Kong with an unbeaten 36 while Shanzeen Shahzad contributed a valuable 24. In reply, excellent bowling by Tam Shun with 3-9 from 5 overs and Chan Ka Man 1-9 from 5 overs restricted the Bhutan batters to 8-89 from their 25 overs.
Earlier in the tournament, Hong Kong beat UAE by 4 wickets and Malaysia by 21 runs.
Hong Kong were made to work hard for victory in their opening match after UAE's Humaira Tasneem grabbed 5-18 as Hong Kong chased a modest 57 for victory. Mariko Hill was the best of the Hong Kong bowlers in that match, claiming 3-22 from her 5 overs.
Hill was the star with both bat and ball for Hong Kong in the second match against Malaysia as she smashed a brilliant 60 not out from 66 balls as Hong Kong totalled 7-121 from their 25 overs. She then grabbed 3-30 off 5 overs as Malaysia could only muster 6-100 in reply.
Hong Kong face Nepal in their final round-robin match but their semi-final berth and Asian Games 2014 qualification are already secure.
