Hong Kong squad named for ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand

The Hong Kong Cricket Association's National Selection Panel has named their 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2014 tournament to be played in New Zealand during January 2014.
The team is:

  • Aizaz Khan
  • Babar Hayat
  • Irfan Ahmed
  • Nadeem Ahmed
  • Nizakat Khan
  • Haseeb Amjad
  • Mark Chapman
  • Tanwir Afzal
  • Ankur Sharma
  • Courtney Kruger
  • Manjinder Singh
  • Mark Ferguson
  • Mark Wright (Player/Coach)
Stand-by players for the tour are:

Officials travelling with the team are:

A number of current National Squad players were unavailable for selection due to work or education commitments.
The tournament in New Zealand is one that Hong Kong will approach with confidence but with a renewed focus for new challenges that lie ahead

Hong Kong has been drawn in Group A of the tournament alongside UAE, Scotland, Canada and Nepal. Group B comprises Netherlands, Kenya, Namibia, PNG and Uganda. The top two teams in the 10-team tournament with qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 to be played in New Zealand and Australia.
Upon announcing the squad, HKCA Chairman said "We are thrilled with the success of the team in Qualifying for the ICC World Twenty20 2014. We are giving our full support to the team and are looking forward to further improvement in New Zealand. We will be following the team's progress closely and will be hoping for yet more success."
Interim National Coach, Mark Wright, said "The upcoming Tournament provides Hong Kong with another fantastic opportunity to build on the success of last month's ICC World Twenty20 Qualification in Dubai."
