India v England
At Mumbai, February 3 (day/night)

At Mumbai, February 3 (day/night). England won by five runs. Toss: England.
Flintoff delighted his team-mates, and the photographers, by ripping off his shirt in celebration
after he bowled Srinath to tie the series. It was his third wicket, and he more than earned the
match award after nursing England's faltering innings through its last 20 overs. Yet ICC referee
Denis Lindsay chose Trescothick instead. Capitalising on a useful toss, Trescothick finished the
series as he began it, mangling the seamers' figures in a majestic 95 from 80 balls. But after
England collapsed against Harbhajan to a quixotic 174 for seven from 30 overs, it was Flintoff
who helped to retrieve the situation, adding 37 with last man Gough. A target of 256 appeared
all too attainable as Ganguly creamed four sixes in his 80. Then Giles enjoyed a brief flashback
to the previous match, bowling Ganguly to prompt a slide of seven for 59. Fighting for his place,
Badani held one end up, but India needed six from two balls when Srinath swished and missed.
Against all the odds, England had claimed a share of the spoils.
