The King commission into corruption in South African cricket seems likely to start its long-awaited hearings during the week beginning June 5.
According to John Bacon, appointed secretary to the commission last week, much work is still necessary before the commission will be in a position to start hearing evidence.
"I'm finishing off clearing my office in Pretoria before moving down to Cape Town for the hearings," said Bacon on Monday. "There's basic logistical stuff to be taken care of, like getting a fax machine installed and arranging e-mail addresses. We're all aware of the enormous public interest in the hearings, but the better the commission is prepared for the hearings, the more efficiently it will be able to operate."
