The ACB today confirmed that the ICC hearing concerning Brett Lee would take place this Tuesday, 1 August 2000 in Melbourne at a venue yet to be determined.
ACB Chief Executive, Malcolm Speed, said that the ACB had previously held a number of concerns regarding the circumstances of the referee's report, the quality of the video to be used to assess Lee's action and the procedures to be adopted for the hearing.
"The overriding concern of the ACB is to ensure that Brett is given a fair hearing. One of these issues has been the process to be followed, and in particular to ensure that there is procedural fairness in all aspects of the hearing.
"There has been a considerable amount of correspondence and discussion between the ACB and the ICC in recent weeks to clarify these issues and the hearing will now take place next Tuesday," said Mr Speed.
Lee is aware of the date of the hearing and the way in which it will be conducted but does not wish to comment on the matter prior to the hearing.
The ICC Illegal Deliveries Panel comprises: the Panel Chairman, Sunil Gavaskar; a member from each Test playing country (10); and an umpires' representative. Only Test playing country members are able to vote.
Any decision by the Panel will be referred to the ACB to take whatever action it deems appropriate.
