Left-handed Hussey, who turns 25 on May 27, joins Adam Gilchrist, Simon Katich, Justin Langer and Damien Martyn as WA players on the Australian Cricket Board's books. With five ACB contracted players, WA is second only to NSW (eight), in terms of representation in the national squad.
Hussey is recognised as one of the most reliable opening batsman in Australia, having scored at least 900 first-class runs in each of the past five seasons for WA.
MIKE HUSSEY CAREER DETAILS;
  • Debuted for the Western Warriors in 1994-95.
  • Played 61 first-class matches for WA, scoring 4777 runs at an average of 46.37 (including 12 centuries and 22 fifties). Highest score of 187 versus Tasmania at the WACA in 1998-99.
  • Played 24 Mercantile Mutual Cup matches, scoring 671 runs at 31.95 (including one hundred and four 50s). Highest one-day score is 100* against Victoria at the MCG in 1999-2000.
  • Captained club side Wanneroo in 1999-2000.
  • Attended the Australian Cricket Academy in 1995. Toured India and Sri Lanka with Australian junior sides. Toured England with Australia A in 1998.
