Rain interrupted the second day of Glamorgan`s friendly with Cardiff UCCE at Sophia Gardens, with no play taking place after the luncheon interval.
The morning session saw the county`s seam bowlers enjoy a good work-out, as the studentsprogressed from their overnight 13-0 to 136-4. Darren Thomas, Andrew Davies and Alex Wharf all claimed one wicket apiece, whilst David Harrison also bowled a disciplinedspell from the Cathedral Road End.
The Cardiff students were indebted to James Cook, their opening batsman, who with amix of good judgement and good fortune, had made 79 runs before being bowled by RobertCroft at the end of the morning session.
Steady drizzle fell for the rest of the afternoon and it was somewhat ironic that rain should interrupt the county`s opening home fixture of the new season, after a pre-season spell of warm, dry weather since mid-March, during which the Glamorgan players have been able to enjoy outdoor nets.
