Rawalpindi gained the upper hand in their Quaid Trophy match against
Islamabad on the second day of their four-day match at the KRL Stadium
Thursday.
After dismissing Islamabad for 104 for a first innings lead of 72,
Rawalpindi in their second innings were 179 for seven at the close, an
overall advantage of 251.
Islamabad, resuming at the overnight score of 21 for two, were wrecked
by the pace of Yasir Arafat, Mohammad Zahid and Naeem Akhtar who
bowled the entire side out in 37 overs.
While Yasir took four, Zahid and Naeem claimed three apiece to leave
Islamabad is seeming trouble.
Ali Naqvi, unbeaten on 10 Wednesday, was the top Islamabad scorer with
40 as none of his mates could do much against the rival attack.
After shining with the ball, Yasir also did well with the bat and put
on 32 runs in Rawalpindi's second innings and was still at the crease
along with Nadeem Abbasi who was on 12. Azhar Mahmood and Rao Iftikhar
shared six wickets.
