The South African A side under the captaincy of Gerald Dros will assemble at
Pretoria University from 27th March 2003 before leaving for Australia on Sunday 30th March 2003.
Western Province and South Africa right-arm seamer, Roger Telemachus has
been withdrawn from the South African A squad which will tour Australia next
month.
Telemachus had not regained full fitness after recovering from injury. He
has been replaced by Eastern Province Jumbos' all-rounder Justin Kemp who
last played for South Africa in the West Indies in 2001.
"It's unfortunate that Roger could not take his place in the squad. He had
recovered but he had not reached the fitness level required for a tough tour
of Australia," said the Convenor of Selectors, Omar Henry.
"Due to the strenuous nature of the tour schedule in Australia, the
selection panel decided to replace Roger with an all-rounder," he added.
The squad will train at the University's High Performance Centre from 15:00.
On Friday, the squad will begin with practice at the nets from 10:00. Then,
there will be a media opportunity with captain, Dros and coach, Vincent
Barnes at 13:00.
On Sunday, there will be an informal media access from around 15:30 at
Johannesburg International Airport before departure at 18:00.
South Africa A squad will play 6 one-day and two 3-day matches against
Australia A from 4th to 23rd April 2003.
