Shirazi in mad dash for crunch semi-final

Damian Shirazi is set to dash back from a Lord's practice net session to play in a full strength BAT Sports side against Havant in tonight's (TUES) Southern Electric Contracting Cup semi-final at Southern Gardens, 6pm.

Damian Shirazi is set to dash back from a Lord's practice net session to play in a full strength BAT Sports side against Havant in tonight's (TUES) Southern Electric Contracting Cup semi-final at Southern Gardens, 6pm.
The 19-year old left-hander, who has scored over 400 Premier League runs for BAT this summer, will net with the MCC Young Professionals before driving 80 miles to the tie from London.
"It will be a bit of a rush, but I desperately want to play in this match," he said.
"Havant are the best side to test yourself against locally and it doesn't need me to say what an important match this is.
"No one's done a Premier league and cup double and BAT want to be the first."
Ironically, Lord's groundstaff team-mate Steve Snell could be in the passenger's seat of Shirazi's car - but lining up for Havant this evening.
"I'm not sure what Snelly is doing at the moment, but I'm sure I can squeeze him in," he smiled.
The second SEC Cup semi-final between Alton and Bournemouth will also be played at the BAT Sports Ground.
It was due to be played on Thursday evening, but because a lot of the players have tickets for the One Day International at the Rose Bowl, it has been delayed until July 17.
The final is at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday August 5.
