As anticipated, the short stint former New Zealand swing bowler Simon Doull had in the Netherlands has resulted in him making himself available for Northern Districts for one-day play this summer.
Doull was called to the Dutch leagues when New Zealand's Paul Hitchcock suffered an injury while on the West Indies tour with the national side and Doull agreed to fill in for him for the remainder of the season.
Doull, who is living in the Bay of Plenty now, will play for Tauranga Boys' High School in the Bay's one-day competition and will also be available for Bay of Plenty for one-day games.
If required by the State Northern Knights, he will be available for the State Shield campaign this summer.
Doull commented: "You only retire once and, after a winter in Holland, my enthusiasm is as strong as ever for the one-day game. Physically, I am feeling good and I intend to work hard on my pre-season fitness."
Unofficial statistics for his half-season with the HCC club show that he scored 399 runs at 44.33 and took 12 wickets at 23.75.
