Sri Lankan sports minister Johnston Fernando said today that he will appoint fresh members to the interim committee managing the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) following the resignation of four members on Monday.
Speaking from his residence in Kurunegala (about 70 kilometers from Colombo), Fernando confirmed his ministry had received the four letters of resignation from Michael Tissera, Kushil Gunasekara, Sidath Wettimuny and Tryphon Mirando.
The four stood down in protest at the government's decision to appoint Thilanga Sumathipala as the standby for the ICC Executive Board Meeting to be held at London in June.
Roshan Mahanama, a member of the 10-man committee, also verbalised his displeasure with the minister's decision in a letter but stopped short of tendering his resignation.
