West Indies v India, 2005-06

West Indies v India, 2005-06

At Port-of-Spain, May 28, 2006. West Indies won by 19 runs. Toss: India.
Brian Lara managed only 36 in what he said would probably be his final one-day international on his home ground, but he had the joy of watching his under-strength side round off a thumping 4-1 series win. Hinds, in for the injured Chanderpaul, starred with both bat and ball, while Taylor and Mohammed, who had only 13 previous one-day caps between them, shared six wickets. The experienced hands did not let West Indies down either: Gayle shot past 40 for the third match running, Sarwan made his seventh half-century against India, and Bravo showed his class with a 44-ball 62. India's batsmen, champion chasers until this series, succumbed under pressure, while their fielders (the linchpins during that 17-match winning streak batting second), lost their bearings. Sehwag bowled guilefully and batted fierily (95 off 103 balls), but ended up on the losing side as none of his team-mates could pass 26.
Man of the Match: D. J. Bravo.
Man of the Series: R. R. Sarwan.
