Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka
The Sri Lankans in Zimbabwe, 2003-04

At Harare, April 27, 2004. Sri Lanka won by 72 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. One-day international
debuts: T. Mupariwa; S. H. T. Kandamby.
Sri Lanka omitted five leading players, including their captain, and still won easily, further
illustrating the travesty taking place here. Panyangara bowled a spirited opening spell of eight
overs for 23 runs, and Sri Lanka got themselves into a spot of bother at 137 for five - thanks to
some careless strokes, two of which benefited Nkala, who took two wickets in an over. A run-aball
51 from Chandana prevented major unpleasantness. Sri Lanka's new-ball bowling fell below
the standards of Vaas and Zoysa, but Zimbabwe still managed to lose two early wickets. Their
sheet-anchor was Ebrahim, playing his 66th one-day international; this was his first fifty against
anyone except Bangladesh.
Man of the Match: U. D. U. Chandana.
